This is the first blog that I created in 2010. At first I called it a “Cup of Grace” and then it morphed into “The Bar Stool Prophet”. It was my first public creative outlet. I hesitated sharing it here on “The Face of Humanity” because it is visceral, authentic, personal and reveals a different person than I am today. But it tells part of my story in an authentic way which was transformative during a difficult time of existing in liminal space plagued with depression, anxiety and grief. It is a face of humanity, my face from 2010 – 2017. It is hard to look back at parts of this blog for me and yet it is a chronicle, a place of remembering. Now, as I am working on my Masters Degree at the University of Minnesota, Duluth I am researching and writing an autoethnography about Two Harbors, MN where I have lived since 1993. So, the more I thought about and reflected on the “Cup of Grace/The Bar Stool Prophet” blog, the more I came to think of it as autoethnography field notes for a seven year span of my life. That is why it is here as part of my ongoing journey.
